Alan Greenspan recently published a paper, The Crisis, by Alan Greenspan, President Greenspan Associates LLC, March 9, 2010, dealing in a very informative way with the financial crisis and potential measures to avoid future crises.

Harvard's G. Mankiw has written a very respectful commentary on the paper. Both Greenspan's paper and Mankiw' commentary are a must read!

Interesting read, both of them. However, it doesn't seem so much that Mankiw disagrees with Greenspan per se, moreover that it's an alternative (but not necessarily contradictory) argument.

This economy still seems to be struggling and there's no clear sign of what it will really do. If you have bad credit, but want to buy a quality used car, visit our site: www.Bad-Credit-Cars.com can help you in cases where regular dealerships can't. Bad credit is our specialty.

In response, I agree with Greenspan in that the GFC could not be avoided. After years of excessive leverage, low inflation, low long-term interest rate and unrealating prosperity the consequences are evident.

I think it's interesting that the recession was so narrowly avoided, at least in Australia - frankly Kevin Rudd was the only person who could have led us out of that successfully, and now he's been booted out!
